How often will we meet?
Every individual who comes to counselling has their own reasons for seeking support and will require a different therapeutic approach. Amy believes that every person has the ability to determine what they need to improve their own wellbeing and will work collaboratively with you to reach your goals.
Are our sessions private and confidential?
Any information shared during therapeutic sessions with Amy Cox Counselling Services will be treated as confidential. This includes information provided verbally or in written form.
There are circumstances where Amy Cox Counselling Services is legally obliged to share information about you and/or our sessions. These situations are:
Where you have provided written permission to share information with another party.
If I consider you, or someone else, to be at risk of harm.
If I am made aware of a serious crime that has been committed.
If your counselling records are subpoenaed by a court of law.
Do I need a GP referral?
You are welcome to start working with Amy Cox Counselling Services without a GP referral.
Can I use a mental health care plan?
Counsellors are unable to accept mental health care plans.
What does it mean to be a registered counsellor?
To register as a professional counsellor you must initially complete an approved training course which is typically a two-year diploma.
You must then register with an industry body such as the Australian Counselling Association and agree to adhere to a strict professional code of ethics and set of professional counselling standards as well as commit to regular counselling supervision and professional development.
